How will the curriculum be matched to my child or young person’s needs?
Class teachers adjust all learning according to the abilities and needs of each child. Where possible high quality universal provision offers scaffolding and support to all children to create an inclusive learning environment.
Children with a specific need will have a personalised curriculum which will work on their personalised objectives or specific skills. The Class Teacher will plan for these objectives and manage the support required for these to be achieved using Bsquared, an assessment system to record progress and identify next steps.
Sometimes, a child will be part of an Intervention Group which will target an identified need for specific skills, knowledge or understanding. This is taught outside of the classroom in small groups.
A child may need a specific piece of equipment, furniture or software in order for them to access the curriculum fully. This will be purchased or hired by the school, following advice from the relevant professionals.
